We Just Want It To Stop
The Australian Federal Government has ordered the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Education and Employment to conduct a national inquiry into workplace bullying last year which resulted in over 300 submissions received mainly from victims of bullying across the country. The report entitled “Workplace Bullying: We just want it to stop” was tabled in Parliament on 26 November 2012 and is available from the Commitee’s website:
The report makes reference to the nationalisation of Brodie’s Law (criminalisation of workplace bullying) which has been enacted in Victoria after the suicide of workplace bullying victim, 19 year-old Brodie Panlock in 2006.
Further information, including submissions can be viewed at www.aph.gov.au/workplacebullying.
There is a support group for victims of workplace bullying, facillitated by experienced counsellors. Meetings are held every second and fourth Thursday of the month in the Gosnells library conference room, from 6:30pm to 7.30pm. Places are limited so please register by calling Hank on 0412 173 290 or Kate 0420 273 137.
